Travelling with a toddler and an infant is hard. So finding a nice, comfortable place to stay while on vacation is just so important to keeping everyone happy - and by everyone, I mean the kids.
We were looking for a place that ideally had 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, and laundry in the suite. The 8 on Claymore serviced residences in Singapore was everything you could have wanted and then some. We were fortunate enough to be able to get a 2 bedroom suite, so that we could put the kids in a room to nap during the day, and not worry about disturbing them while we did other things. The service from the very beginning was nothing short of amazing. They were very professional from the first email I sent them looking for specific facilities, to when we arrived, during our stay, and right up till the end when we checked out.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with some refreshing beverages which was really nice considering the heat and the humidity in Singapore - something that we're not all that used to coming from Canada. Our bags (and we had a lot of them), were all taken up to our room for us, and one of their front desk staff took us up to our room, and showed us how everything worked, including the laundry (washer/dryer), appliances in the kitchen, etc. They even provide things like laundry detergent and dish soap free of charge so you don't need to rush out to a grocery store to start using or washing stuff. You also get a full sized fridge and freezer, which was awesome so I could store the breastmilk I was pumping for our infant, as well as any food to cook up for the kids if/when we needed, and milk for cereal for our toddler. It was nice that we didn't have to pay extra for a tiny fridge that we would have had to squeeze everything in to.
Their facility is fully equipped with a full sized swimming pool with awesome gazebo's to relax and stay in the shade while outside, a shallow knee-hight kiddie pool, as well as a playground with soft rubberized (non-slip) flooring for toddlers and young kids. They also provide free hot breakfast daily, coffee all day long, and unlimited free bottles of water, delivered up to your room daily.
Their location couldn't have been any better, as they're located about a 5 minute (maybe 10 minutes with a toddler) walk to Orchard Road, which is the heart of the downtown core in Singapore. This was very convenient to hop onto their subway/skytrain (or MRT) as they call it, especially travelling with young kids, if you don't have a car seat with you. There is a food court less than a 5 minute walk (even with kids), so you can literally get food at a moment's notice. There is also a Starbucks within a 5 minute walk if you don't like the Nespresso and Nescafe options offered for free in the serviced residences.
The facility was very clean, and I'm not just talking about the rooms - the pool, the play structure at the playground, and the dining area at the hot breakfast buffet was always clean, spotless and the staff are always around to assist you if you need anything. They were all very friendly, even with our toddler who opened up to them quite quickly. They are even quite reasonably priced and affordable, considering the expensive prices of hotels in Singapore.
Overall, I couldn't think of a better, more family oriented place for you to stay if you're travelling to Singapore for a vacation with your family. An added bonus, is I think because they are so family friendly, there are quite a few families staying there, so our toddler was able to make friends with some of the other guests, which was great considering he was getting a little homesick, and having some friends to play with made him feel at home.
Thank you to the staff at the 8 on Claymore Serviced Residences in Singapore. We will definitely be back again!
